The island in the background looms large in  Swedish folklore.  It is called "the Blue
Maiden".    It is reputed to be the place where witches dance with the devil on certain
days of the year.   Its geology is unique, and people removing the smooth stones from
the island as souvenirs are said to experience bad luck until the stones are replaced.
